The 12 O'clock in our lives

The year is running out, but what does it mean that we are running out of time?

At the end of the year, we make resolutions, changes, there are those who say that we have to make room for the new things that the new year will bring, but in reality, what should we make room for?

It worries some, others are excited to know that we are about to start a new year, there are those who see it as a new opportunity, a new beginning, but the reality is that beyond that change of date, we must think about the other time that continues to end.

Resolutions shouldn't be just to the new year’s celebrations. Changes in diet or different habits that we know are harmful to us should not be considered only on these days when we change the calendar but at any time, and our resolutions should also include being more prepared for that time when our days are over, when it really strikes 12 in our earthly life.

If for the celebrations, we prepare, we plan the party, the dinner, we have guests, we fix our hair, we change styles, we put on makeup, we put on the sparkles, there is joy, expectations and celebration, everything has to be Ready, for that other moment of the 12 of our lives, are we ready?

Not all December 31 will be holidays, we will not always have the ones we love around, not all of them will be with us as we may wish, but there is something that never changes and it is the continuous presence of God in our lives, He is by our side no matter the date marked on the calendar, He is always there, He receives us with or without the joy or brightness of the celebrations, He watches us and guards us, hoping that we include Him not only in our plans for a few days, but in our life in general, that there will be more presence of God, a greater search for God, to know Him more, to learn more from His word, that we may have a personal relationship with God because He is real just as the evil that exists in the world is real and because of that, we need God with urgency every day more.

It is good to plan and prepare for the arrival of a new year and its festivities, but first of all, we must include God in it because nothing that we have achieved or will achieve in the future has been or will be by our strength, but by the one who He placed in us every day, He has been and will be, so we must include Him to be part of us in each new day and each new year, so we may continue to prepare ourselves not only for the next coming days, but also for that day that marks 12 of our life. Every night we go to sleep and it marks 12 without knowing if we are going to wake up, that is why it is so important that we are ready at all times.

But already on the way to the celebrations, with the shine, the new clothes, the changes of looks, all arranged, let's evaluate what they will see of us when we pass through the door; beyond the sparkles on the clothes, will be seen the shine of God's love, generosity, compassion and honesty? what do we reflect?

Apart from the change of look, do we also change our attitude to one of faith, of hope, do we remove our fear and put on the value and identity that God gave us and that was paid for us on the cross?

Do we change our old shoes and decide to put on the shoes that will walk towards the will and purpose that God has for our lives?

We fix our hands, some of us paint them, we make them pretty and presentable for the celebrations, but are those hands ready for the work that God has called us to do? Because we all have a mission and a purpose to fulfill.

Did we put on a new perfume that smells pleasing to God? That when we arrive at a place our presence is pleasing to others?

Shall we change the traditional menu, did an update and now we will eat differently, because eating is not just about food is about what feed to us, are we going to include prayer, fasting and the Word of God in our menu? I’m going to remove from the menu what I don't like about myself when I look in the mirror or what others say about me, but to add what God says about me?

Let us make sure that we are ready not only for the holidays, but also for the moment that 12 o'clock strikes in our lives, whether it is because Jesus comes for His people or because the clock of our earthly life comes to an end and strikes 12 because in that moment we will spend our lives in eternity, that is our most important celebration if we are prepared and we fulfilled our mission to have the pass to be in the presence of God.
